What is this?
Year 5 students joining after 22nd December must enrol on the Intensive Course, due to your child missing a lot of key content. In exceptional cases, students scoring over 70% on the Free Assessment may still be considered for the regular 11+ course, however in most cases this is unlikely.

Course Content
This intensive course is designed to support Year 5 children who have joined us late in the programme and have missed key learning — with just a few months remaining before the 11+ exam.
The first 8 weeks are carefully structured to help your child build strong foundations across all the essential 11+ topics needed for success in the 11+ exam. After that, we move on to applying these skills to targeted practice questions and full mock exams.
Throughout this course, there is a clear focus on helping your child develop effective exam techniques, improve time management, and gain the confidence needed to perform under pressure — all with the goal of giving your child the best possible chance of success in the real 11+ exam.

Our Teaching Methods

Our 11 plus tutors first demonstrate and teach the required techniques, followed by practice questions for your child to attempt independently. Subsequently, our tutors thoroughly explain any questions your child found challenging.
We maintain this principled approach to ensure every child is catered for and no one is left behind.
Homework is set on a weekly basis, to provide additional practice and reinforce the topics covered in class, including vocabulary building.
The following week, our 11 plus tutors meticulously reviews each question your child struggled with, ensuring they leave the lesson with clarity.
We understand the importance of tracking your child’s progress, which is why your child will complete more than 15 GL Mock Exams throughout their 11+ journey at Broad Horizon Tuition.
Our GL Mock Exams are run strictly according to realistic exam conditions, providing your child with the confidence to face the real exam.
These assessments help us identify your child’s strengths and areas for improvement, allowing us to implement targeted support where needed.
Following the mock exams, we hold parent-teacher meetings to discuss your child’s performance in depth and explore strategies to enhance their learning. These sessions provide valuable insight and personalised guidance, ensuring your child stays on the right path towards 11 plus success.
